Body of 19-year-old Logan man found in Tony Grove Lake

The body of a 19-year-old Logan man was recovered from Tony Grove Lake just before 11 a.m. Thursday morning. The man, identified as John Doucette, reportedly drowned while on an outing with friends at the lake in Logan Canyon Wednesday afternoon. Cache County Sheriffs Lt. Chad Jensen says his office responded to a call about a possible drowning at approximately 3:30 p.m. He says the victim and one of his friends attempted to swim across the lake but part way through the swim both experienced problems and the victim went under water. Several witnesses attempted to get to the victim but were unable to reach him. Jensen says the friend involved was able to make it to a person in a canoe who notified authorities. The Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue dive team were dispatched and several hours were spent searching in the water trying to locate the victim. The search was eventually suspended because of darkness. Tony Grove will remain open for trail use today but the lake was closed while the search continued.
