Classes will open on August 31st at Cache Valley’s new bilingual pre-school where children speak both English and Spanish. The school was founded by sisters Kristen and Holly Olsen who say the Union Pre-School is committed to providing authentic language exposure to children aged three to five.On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Monday, Kristen Olsen said research shows that this type of language learning among preschoolers is most beneficial as it builds and reinforces each child’s native language while adding another.”We teach English-speaking children Spanish and Spanish-speaking children English through bilingual immersion,” Kristen explained, “so we we really still stress to the children kindergarten readiness skills, anything creative and fun for children we do, we just do it with a second language component.”An open house at the new bi-lingual Union Pre-School will be held on August 20th from 6 to 7 p.m. The location is the corner of 900 North and 596 East in the basement.
