The city of Mendon is without a candidate for Mayor. The filing deadline passed with no one signing up to replace outgoing Mayor Michael Morgan. Morgan says if no one decides to run as a write-in, the city council will solicit applications and then pick someone for the job. Morgan says he has thoroughly enjoyed being Mayor. “I’ve loved the people,” Morgan explains. “The people are fun. It’s nice to get to know people in other parts of the community I wouldn’t otherwise see.” Besides getting to know people in his community better, Morgan also says he has enjoyed working with city administration. “I’ve enjoyed being able to influence the ordinances and regulations…and preserve Mendon as much with its current character as possible. And I’ve been able to work on that.” This is Morgan’s first term as mayor but he also served on the council and the Planning and Zoning board. After 12 years, he says, it’s time to call it quits.
