Mendon celebrates pioneer heritage with sesquicentennial celebration

This is the week for Mendon City’s Sesquicentennial Celebration. Events start tonight with a community talent show at 7 p.m. with “The Senior Band” as special guests. Among the other activities are a softball tournament, Family Canoe Night at the Swamps, three-on-three basketball tournament and family volleyball. There’s a picnic in the park on Friday, the 24th of July, and a full day of events on Saturday. A highlight comes on Sunday, July 26th, when Paul Willie shares the History of Mendon and stories of the city’s early settlers. That starts at 7 p.m. and refreshments will be served.
