Today is the deadline for those wanting to run for mayor or member of a local city council this year. There are now three candidates for mayor of Logan and nine for city council. Mayor Randy Watts is seeking re-election and his two challengers are Marc Haws and Mike Morrill.There are now nine candidates running for two open seats on the Logan Municipal Council. Three people filed for those seats yesterday and the deadline is today at 5 p.m. The new council filings came from J. Curtis Broadbent, Chad A. Tilley and Steven P. Woods. Woods ran unsuccessfully for mayor four years ago.Other candidates for the Logan Municipal Council include Holly Daines, Robert Horning, Steven G. Stokes, Tony Wegner, Brandon Brown, and interim council member Dean Quayle. For Logan City offices, interested individuals have until 5 p.m. to file in the office of City Recorder Teresa Harris. The 5 p.m. filing deadline is the same for all other municipalities, as well.
