The National Lampoon Sports Minute (Or So) 7/6

American Joey Chestnut won another hot dog eating championship over the weekend. Which totally makes up for our soccer team losing to Brazil. Manny Ramirez hit a homerun in his first game back from suspension. The ball went so far, it’s now ahead of Arizona by 3 games. The Cleveland Indians have traded minor league pitcher John Meloan to the Tampa Bay Rays for righthander Winton Abreu. If you’ve heard of either of these players, you watch too much baseball. Major League Baseball paid a tribute to Lou Gehrig’s “Luckiest Man on Earth” speech. We should also add that Gehrig was lucky never to play for the Washington Nationals. And a game between San Diego and Houston was delayed by 52 minutes when a swarm of bees took over left field at Petco Park. Because even God didn’t want to see another Padres game.
