Cache Republican leader criticizes Franken Senate victory

The leader of the Cache County Republican party is commenting on the Democrats obtaining a filibuster-proof 60-seat majority in the U.S. Senate.David James, chairman of the Cache County Republican Party, made the comments after Democrat Al Franken was officially given clearance to head to Washington following a Minnesota Supreme Court decision declaring him the winner of last November’s race against incumbent Norm Coleman. James said Thursday that the situation will worsen in Washington now because Democrats already control the House, Senate and the White House.”At this point in time I know there are those tremendous amount of people particularly on the Republican side of things who are very concerned about the way things are going,” James said. “Things are being ram-rodded through that have not been thought out.”James pointed to the latest energy legislation, the Waxman-Markey bill that is often referred to as the “cap and trade bill,” as an example of legislation that went through the Senate not only having not been read by legislators, but with legislators being denied the opportunity to read the lengthy legislation.
