Logan Finance Director Richard Anderson has been recognized as one of three Utah Business Magazine’s 2009 Chief Government Financial officer awards.Logan Mayor Randy Watts says he was pleased, but not surprised, to learn about the honor. He said Anderson was hired by former Mayor Doug Thompson and it was a great choice because of his capabilities.”He spent some time in Salt Lake City and really learned some real good lessons in government and he brought those skills to the City of Logan,” Watts said on KVNU’s For the People program Tuesday night. ” We’ve really been fortunate, Rich and myself, to really look at things without too much controversy. His view and my view are very much alike in where we want the city to go now and in the future.”Watts also said right now the city’s executive team has managed to keep Logan’s financial situation “healthy” in spite of the economic downturn. He says he is hopeful that will continue and it has helped to have Walmart, Walgreens and some new restaurants coming in.
