The weather couldn’t have been nicer Thursday and Friday for the Summerfest Arts Faire in downtown Logan, but a rainy Saturday has festival officials wondering if they’re going to have a smaller budget for next year’s event.Marianne Sidwell, director of Summerfest, said crowds were down by about 7,000 people from what organizers expected, mostly due to consistent rainfall on Saturday, and although the event went on as planned, many artists closed up their shops early and some vendors reported only making a tenth of the money they would have on a sunny day.The finances of a rainy day didn’t just impact vendors, either, as the Summerfest event itself used sales of soft drinks and bottled water to earn revenue for operational costs. With sales of drinks down due to the rain, Sidwell said Summerfest may end up with a smaller budget next year.
