Craig Jessop is calling it a “patriotic salute to America and the Independence holiday.” Jessop, who heads the Departments of Music and Theater at Utah State University, says Utah State University’s Caine School of the Arts will present Grammy Award winner Maureen McGovern, whose phenomenal career spans recordings, concerts, theater, film, television and radio.”If you go to the classic American song book, Maureen McGovern is on the top,” Jessop says. ” We’re doing a program with Maureen called ‘An American Salute.’ It will be, again, in the Kent [Concert Hall] with the American Festival Orchestra and Chorus.”Jessop also says that they will be taking their show on the road this year. “We’ll take it to Idaho Falls, Idaho on the 2nd of July. And then we’ll travel to Sun Valley in the brand new Sun Valley Pavilion that was opened last summer, a $30 million facility that is beyond belief.”In fact, Jessop says, it is probably the finest outdoor music venue in North America and that’s where the tour will conclude on July 3rd.Jessop is also reminding the public that USU’s scholarship benefit series continues tonight in the Manon Caine Russell-Kathryn Caine Wanlass Performance Hall with vocal artist Sam Payne starting at 7:30 p.m.
