Girls Junior Americas Cup coming to Logan Golf and Country Club

Some of the LPGA’s biggest stars first played in the Girls Junior Americas Cup, held this year at the Logan Golf & Country Club from July 28-30. One of them was Pat Hurst, the tournament medalist in 1985 and 1986 when she represented the team from northern California. Hurst has gone on to be a six time winner on tour, including the 1998 Dinah Shore, has played on four Solheim Cups and became just the seventh player in the LPGA to win over $1 million in a season. On her memories of the GJAC: “It was a lot of fun. We played for northern California and it was all summer long that we would accumulate points like we do for the Solheim Cup. It was one of your goals to make the team.”It helped the competitive part of me. It set the foundation for what I do now. Every tournament, we would make points and everyone would look at the standings, just like we do out here. Going through the same feelings at that time, that was big for me and, obviously, now Solheim is big for us, it’s just a different level.”The representatives on this year’s team will be announced shortly. Could there be another Pat Hurst in the group? This is only the second time in the tournament’s 32 year history it’s been staged in Utah and will be the biggest golf event ever in Cache Valley. For more information visit
