Vintage Car Show Highlights Pony Express Days

Saturday will be a big day in Clarkston and event chair Jill Ashcroft is inviting everyone out to the 27th annual Pony Express Days celebration. She says the popular Pony Express Horse relay race will start at 9 a.m. at the Clarkston Cemetery and before that there’s a Gunsight Gallop, a three mile foot race, and a Giddyup Gallop, a one mile kids foot race, both starting at 8.On KVNU’s Crosstalk show Ashcroft said one of the highlights is the Vintage Car Show at noon with registration stating at 9:30 a.m. “We have at least 10 to 12 people in Clarkston who restore old cars and a few people have lots of cars,” Ashcroft said. “They do old tractors and there’s motorcycles and so about eight years ago they decided to start up this car show and its been really fun. We’ve had really good success with that. They let any car come, a motorcycle, we’ve had old tractors, we even had some kids from the valley bring their newer cars that they’ve worked on.” Before that the cars can be seen in the 11 a.m. parade Ashcroft says there are a lot of children’s activities in the afternoon and a dinner, complete with entertainment by “Rough Stock” starts at 6:30 p.m.Ashcroft appeared on Wednesday’s edition of KVNU’s Crosstalk Show.
