The public will learn Thursday about the recommendation a committee has come up with regarding RAPZ-Restaurant Tax money for the Utah Festival Opera Company.UFOC General Director Michael Ballam requested $400,000 from the council earlier this month, money he said was needed to keep the opera program going after this year because of the economic downturn. Donations to the company have been slower coming in, and the organization exhausted other efforts of attempting to bridge a funding shortfall. Cache County Council Chairman Craig Peterson said the committee met Monday with opera company officials and presented their recommendation to the group. Peterson said they will review the numbers and the recommendation could be revised before it is released to the public.Peterson said the recommendation will be released Thursday via an e-mail to the media.
