Logan Municipal Councilmember Tami Pyfer will not be running for a third-four year term this year, but she’s hoping many people will try for an elected office this election season. Pyfer says its been a great experience and she is hoping a lot of people will file, namely in Logan where the filing period is from July 1 to July 15. Pyfer said the Logan council voted last year to change the way members of the council are elected. Until now, she said, there have been numbered seats but the numbers did not actually mean anything except you were running against a specific candidate. That won’t be the case this year. Both Pyfer’s seat and the one previously held by Steve Thompson are up for grabs this year. Thompson, whose term was to expire this year also, resigned on May 31 and Dean Quayle was chosen to fill the vacancy. The Mayor’s position will also be up for election, and incumbent Randy Watts has already announced that he will seek re-election.
