Large thunderstorm sweeps through valley

A large thunderstorm cell swept through Cache Valley at about 4:30 p.m. Monday, causing traffic problems in multiple communities.CacheValleyDaily.com received reports of lane closures on U.S. Highway 91 in Smithfield near Lee’s Marketplace after storm drain covers were blown off. Water was gushing out of drains about one to two feet, reports stated.In Providence, nearly a foot of water was flowing down the road near 300 East and 300 South, as well as a down Center Street near the Providence foothills.In Logan, reports were received of thumb-sized hail near 1000 North, and dime-sized hail was reported in areas of North Logan.
