A lot will be new this year at the Summefest Art Faire, such as entertainment that features strolling stilt walkers, giant puppets and a large bubble tower. But Summerfest Director Marianne Sidwell says the Summerfest Arts Faire, to be held June 18th through June 20th on the Logan Tabernacle grounds, will also feature juried fine art that will be appreciated for its quality. Some people feared that because of the downturn in the economy fewer than the usual 100-plus artists would be coming. Sidwell says that’s not the case. “We even have Eric Dowdle, who is extremely well-known in the art community, coming,” Sidwell says. “I think that the artists in this downturn economy are looking for opportunities to share their art and get a little bit of publicity and hopefully sell some things. So that’s our job, to get the people here and hope that the people that want to spend some money on art will come and help support these wonderful artists who use this as their living.” This year’s Summerfest will again feature “Plein-Air,” a contest for artists who create original art in and around Cache Valley from June 14th until June 16th. Sidwell says this artwork will be judged and available for sale at Summerfest. For more information call 213-3858.
