A lot of people are eagerly awaiting the opening of the Cache Valley Community Garden just west of the St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Hyde Park. The Catholic Church has made enough space for 75 garden plots and the 200 square feet plots are being leased for $30 for the whole growing season. The church is also providing free irrigation water to participants. USU Extension is providing a lot of expertise to the project and Extension Horticulturist Taun Beddes says community gardens are especially useful to those who do not own land or do not have enough space in the yard for a garden. A service project for preparing the Cache Community Garden will be held Saturday from 8:30 until noon and Cache Community Connections is participating. Volunteers are needed and a potluck lunch will be served at 12 noon.
