‘Family feeling’ grows with new Young Honda location

Despite a wet afternoon, a large group of people gathered at the new Young Honda at 1855 North Main in Logan. A good number of those in attendance were children, children of Young Automall employees who were encouraged to be there.

“I’m very grateful for all those employees who are dedicated and loyal to the Young Automotive Group and our family,” said Spencer Young, Sr., president of the Young Auto Group. “When I say that family thing, my hope – and our mission, our goal – is to keep that family feeling and that our employees and customers feel that.”

Representatives from Logan City, Logan School Foundation, the Cache Chamber of Commerce and Honda were on hand for the official ribbon cutting for the new dealership. Shana Longhurst, Director of the Logan Schools Foundation, thanked the auto group for the donations and partnerships they have made with the Logan City School District.

“It’s so fun to hear and see the children that are a part of this,” Longhurst said. “It truly does bring it to life that it’s a family business, and that’s exciting.”

The Young Auto Group recently remodeled and expanded the Toyota dealership just to the north of the new Honda dealership. With the addition of a dedicated building and space for Honda, the company has significantly increased the number of employees over the last four years.

General Manager of the Logan dealerships Mike Capron said the number of employees has grown from approximately 50 to now over 90. He said there are 36 jobs now specifically tied to Young Honda.

“That’s 36 good jobs that help take care of families here in Cache Valley. That means something to me. It also means that doesn’t happen without the support of family members and spouses,” Capron explained.

The Zone Sales Manager for American Honda, Waldo Jimenez, was in attendance and said the values of the Honda brand match closely with the values of the Young Auto Group.

“Our founder, Mr. Honda, talked about having businesses in the community that are there to serve the community,” exclaimed Jimenez. “In turn, that community would help that company prosper and grow. You can see that synergy here today.”

The building location was made possible by agreements with Logan City and the Cache County and Logan City school districts. Young, Sr. said those agreements provide incentives to help the company be successful.

While the ribbon cutting marked the opening of a new building, and an expanded line of automobiles to be sold in Cache Valley, Capron said it really represents a completion of a vision that began nearly four years ago.

“Young Honda might just be one name, one place but it is a sum of many, many efforts.”
