Two injured after alleged DUI accident

LOGAN — A 29-year-old man was arrested for driving under the influence after the SUV he was operating crashed, Monday afternoon.

Logan City Police Capt. Curtis Hooley said William Gunnell was driving a 2007 Lincoln Navigator south on 600 East, when he hit a cement barrier near 375 North.

Witnesses who saw the accident told police, the Navigator appeared to be heading toward the Boulevard when it swerved left to try and turn down the dugway.

Police found Gunnell and an 18-year-old passenger were under the influence of alcohol. They also sustained minor head injuries and were treated at the scene by paramedics.

Hooley said Gunnell was arrested for driving under the influence. The passenger was also cited for consuming alcohol under the legal age limit.

There were no other vehicles involved in the accident. It was reported at 5:44 p.m.
