Logan City parking restrictions go into effect

LOGAN — With winter weather coming, Logan City’s parking restrictions went into effect early Thursday morning. The city code prohibits vehicles from parking on city streets from midnight to 6:00 a.m. each day.

Logan City Police Lt. Barry Parslow said during the next few days officers will be reminding residents of the seasonal restriction. Instead of issuing tickets though, they will be placing yellow warning notices on vehicles that are illegally parked.

“We figure it gives people the benefit of the doubt,” explained Parslow. “It gives them a moment to get used to what we need to have happen, so that everybody can have good clean streets and their vehicles can avoid damage and any problems.”

The city code is intended to help keep roads clear for snowplows. It also prohibits over-night parking in city parking lots.

Parslow said in the upcoming days officers will have to begin issuing tickets for anyone violating the ordinance. Those tickets will have fines attached.

“Typically our citations or parking tickets have a fine of $20 and $25.”

It is also against Logan City Code to push or blow snow out into the road way because it can create a hazard for cars and snowplows. Residents are responsible for keeping sidewalks in front of their homes clear.

The parking restriction remains in effect through March 15.
