Crossroads of the West Gun Show returns to Logan

LOGAN — After large crowds attended the first event earlier this year, the Crossroads of the West Gun Show returns to Cache Valley this weekend.  The show, which started in Salt Lake City more than forty years ago, will be held at the Cache County Event Center.

Vice President Rob Templeton said the show will feature a lot more than just firearms.  It will be open Friday, noon to 7 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“There is something for everyone,” said Templeton.  “We have jewelry and things for women.  Also great gift ideas for men, who are always hard to buy for during Christmas, and a lot of leather goods.”

Crossroads of the West Gun Shows started in 1974 after Templeton’s father decided to host the first event to promote his Salt Lake gun store. They now organize approximately 60 shows a year in Utah, Arizona, California and Nevada.

Templeton said the show features a wide variety of guns, from modern firearms to collectibles.  Participants can also buy, sell and trade guns during the show.

“We encourage everyone to bring their firearms.  We just ask that they bring them unloaded.  We have security checkpoints, where we will have someone check the guns, make sure they are unloaded, and tie the action to keep it safe.”

The show is meant to be a family event.  Kids 12 and under are given free admission if they attend with their parent or guardian.

Templeton said there will be firearm safety instructors at the show, providing information on classes and training.  Many of the collectors will also be showing how different guns operate.

“We always have First Amendment type things and training classes, certainly that is one of the big parts of gun shows.  We want to make sure everyone understands the safety and how to handle firearms properly.”

Tickets for the show are $10 and are good for both Friday and Saturday.

hAVEN’T ENOUGH PEOPLE/CHILDREN BEEN KILLED WITHOUT HAVING TO SELL MORE GUNS? MY LORD, HOW CAN ANYONE IN GOOD CONSCIENCE SELL GUNS WITH ALL THE DEATHS SUFFERED FROM IRRESPONSIBLE GUN OWNERS. I SUPPORT GUN OWNERS – IT’S THE OTHER CRAZIES WHO HAVE ACCESS TO GUNS THAT NEED TO BE STOPPED.
