LOGAN, Utah – Senior guard Diogo Brito scored a game-high 19 points off the bench and sophomore forward Justin Bean added 18 points and seven rebounds as the No. 17 Utah State men’s basketball team rolled to a 103-66 exhibition victory over the College of Idaho on Wednesday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.
Brito led five Aggies in double-figure scoring. Freshman guard Sean Bairstow added 11 points, to go along with a game-best seven assists and six rebounds. Sophomore guard Brock Miller and redshirt freshman center Trevin Dorius chipped in 10 points apiece.
Utah State shot a sizzling 61.0 percent from the field on the night (36-of-59). The Yotes, who led 6-2 early on, only shot 30.9 percent (21-of-68), including 25.7 percent in the first half (9-of-35).
Nate Bruneel led the College of Idaho, which came into the exhibition contest with a perfect 2-0 record after beating Montana Western (89-80) and Montana Tech (90-84) last weekend in Butte, Mont., with 12 points.
The Aggies, who recorded 23 assists, led by as many as 40 with 11:41 to go in the game. Dorius finished one rebound shy of a double-double, while junior forward Alphonso Anderson grabbed 11 boards as Utah State dominated the glass, 49-32.
The Aggies officially open the 2019-20 regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 5, hosting Montana State at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum. The non-conference game, which is being televised nationally on AT&T SportsNet, is slated to tip off at 8 p.m.
Dating back to the 2008-09 season, Utah State is now 19-1 in its last 20 exhibition games.
