Logan named highest educated city in Utah

LOGAN – Logan has been named the most educated city in Utah by the insurance website Insurify.

Insurify took data from the over 1.6 million car insurance applications from 2016 to present to determine the most educated city in each state. To apply for quotes, customers enter personal information including their city and their highest level of education. According to Insurify, they used a scoring algorithm that calculated “an education score for each customer based on educational history and achievement.”

That data was then divided by city and the average education score for each city was collected.

Logan City Mayor, Holly Daines, said the city’s highly educated population is a great benefit for businesses looking for excellent employees.

“Many jobs today, particularly in the tech sector, require significant educational qualities,” she said.

The Milken Institute also named Logan as one of the ten top-performing small cities in the country for creating and sustaining new jobs, and Daines said she thinks Logan’s educated residents have a lot to do with that success.

“Much of the growth in the business sector in Utah and the U.S. is driven by small business owners,” Daines added.

Snejina Zacharia, CEO of Insurify, said educational success is important in advancing local economies.

“These awards recognize the cities in each state whose residents demonstrate unmatched commitments to their education.”

Daines agreed, saying education brings opportunities.

All types of education are valuable, including vocational education and learning skills of a trade,” Daines said. “Given the high demand in the construction industry right now, there is a shortage of electricians, plumbers, carpenters, contractors and so on.”

Boise was named the most educated city in Idaho and Boulder was the highest educated city in Colorado. A list of each state can be found at Insurify.com.
