Utah State’s Neemias Queta named an All-Star Five as Portugal wins title

Neemias Queta FIBA U20 European Championships

LOGAN, Utah – Utah State sophomore center Neemias Queta was named to the All-Star Five of the FIBA U20 European Championships – Division B, as his Portuguese side captured the championship on Sunday with a 73-57 victory over the Czech Republic.

Queta posted double-double efforts in both the quarterfinal and semifinal of the tournament, with 26 points and 14 rebounds against Georgia, and 14 points and 14 rebounds against Russia, respectively. Over the course of the tournament, Queta finished among the top-20 in scoring with 14.3 points per game (16th) and rebounding with 11.0 per game (3rd), and was one of only three players to average a double-double.

Queta also finished second in the tournament with 2.0 blocks per game, including a tournament-best four in Portugal’s opening round game against North Macedonia.
