Ciera Stout on her run for Nibley city council

Ciera Stout for Nibley City Council

Another candidate for Nibley City Council is Ciera (sierra) Stout.  She appeared on KVNU’s For the People program on Tuesday.  She described herself as a busy Mom with three kids ages 8, 9 and 10.  She and her husband have been married for 12 and-a-half years, she is also a Medicare representative and helps seniors to find the health insurance they need.

“I moved to Nibley city, actually, just over a year ago.   When I moved here, I’ve lived in a lot of different places….around the valley, out of the state, down by Salt Lake and I love Nibley.  I love the small town feel of Nibley, I love the community that Nibley has, the culture that Nibley has and I want to be an integral part of that”, she explained.

Stout says being a recent transplant to the community, she may see things a little differently than long-time residents.  She said she has asked neighbors and individuals in her Facebook group what they would like to see changed in Nibley city.

“And overwhelmingly the main thing that I heard back from people was Number 1- there’s a park space that has a creek running through it, a canal.  The city is supposed to be taking care of that, and it’s weeds and it’s overgrown.  We have people in wheelchairs that almost fall into the canal everytime they go on that sidewalk that’s there because it’s not taken care of”

Another issue she says is 12-hundred West,  officials have said they are going to widen it.  She would like to have some input into how and when that’s going to happen.   The primary election is August 13th and the general election ballot is available November 5th.   Stout’s Facebook page is ‘Ciera Stout for Nibley City Council’.  She said there is also a Meet the Candidate night towards the end of the month, the date and time is still being worked out on that.
