LOGAN — A plea deal is being negotiated for Andrew J. Oakeson, who was arrested earlier this month.  The 27-year-old Logan man is charged with molesting a toddler.

Oakeson appeared in 1st District Court Tuesday morning.  He has been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and sodomy on a child, all first-degree felonies; along with lewdness involving a child, a class A misdemeanor.

Defense attorney Shannon Demler told the court that prosecutors had made them an offer in exchange for pleading guilty.  He asked for more time to discuss the deal with his client.

Details of the plea agreement were not disclosed.

Police report that Oakeson molested the victim, who is under 2-years-old, multiple times in March and June.  He would allegedly touch the girl while viewing child pornography on his cell phone.  The girl was an acquaintance of the suspect, who was considered to be a person of trust.

Oakeson reportedly disclosed the crimes to a therapist, who reported it to the Department of Child and Family Services.  He later admitted to the allegations, when questioned by police.

Oakeson is being held in the Cache County Jail on $150,000 bail.  He could face up to life in prison if convicted.
