LOGAN — A 19-year-old Cove man has pleaded guilty to having sex with a teenage girl. Erick Durrant accepted a plea deal and will now wait to be sentenced.

Durrant appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon. He pleaded guilty to one count of unlawful sexual activity with a minor, a third-degree felony. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped two remaining charges against him.

Durrant met the underage victim through a mutual friend. They had a brief relationship, often communicating through Snapchat. On November 30, he sexually assaulted her.

Cache County Deputy Attorney Dane Murray told the court on Monday, the victim was four years younger than Durrant when the crime occurred.

Judge Kevin Allen ordered Durrant to be sentenced on August 19.

Durrant remains out of jail after posting $35,000 bail. He could face up to five years in prison.
