The formal filing period for municipal elections in cities throughout Cache County began today and runs through June 7.
There are three open seats on the Logan Municipal Council. The terms of Tom Jensen, Herm Olsen and Jeannie Simmonds are all expiring. Municipal council members serve four-year terms and are elected at-large.
Mark A. Anderson and Ken Heare expressed interest in running for council seats and declared their candidacy on the first day of filing.
City Recorder Teresa Harris says you need to stop by her office between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. by Friday and fill out the necessary paper work if you are interested in running for office. There is no filing fee.
There are three council seats open in Hyrum, North Logan and Providence; all four-year terms. Providence also has one, 2-year term council seat open.
Other cities in the county will be holding municipal elections this fall with filing deadlines June 3 – 7. If necessary, the Primary Election date is Tuesday, August 13 and the General Election date is Tuesday, November 5.
Rather than a Primary Election, Hyde Park City recently held a nominating convention. Voters elected six candidates to run for the three available council seats in the upcoming fall election.
