120-unit apartment complex back on the drawing board in downtown Logan

A public hearing is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, in the Logan City Council Chambers to discuss rezoning property that would be the site of a new housing development located at 150 south 100 East.

Rezoning of the property, which is east of Main Street and south of Garff Wayside Garden, has been a topic of discussion for area residents and council members for several years.

The Logan City Planning and Zoning Commission has been working with the project applicant and presented its latest recommendations for the rezone during a recent council meeting.

A rezone would allow for a new downtown housing project to be built on the site.  The proposal calls for a 120 unit multi-family apartment building, 10 town homes, surface parking areas with site and landscaping improvements.

Council members rejected a proposal for the site two years ago. At the time, several members expressed concern about the planned development and felt it needed further study.

The city council may accept, reject or amend the planning commission’s recommendations during Tuesday night’s meeting.
