Recently, Brigham City Community Hospital was named, for the fifth time, among the 100 Top Hospitals nationwide by IBM Watson Health.
CEO Richard Spuhler said hospitals are rated on several standards.
“It comes to lower complications, shorter length of stay, shorter emergency department wait times and higher patient satisfaction,” said Spuhler. “A lot of those things that we do on a daily basis are making a difference for our patients.”
Spuhler said the quality of patient care is what drives the efforts of the hospital staff.
“We make sure that we are incorporating into that all these different things to insure that our patients are cared for safely, that they’re cared for appropriately and that they’re getting the best care available.”
Brigham City Community Hospital is one of five MountainStar Healthcare hospitals to earn the national award in 2019.
Based on the results of this year’s study, if all Medicare inpatients received the same level of care as those treated at the winning hospitals, more than 103,000 additional lives could be saved and more than $8.2 billion in inpatient costs could be saved.
