Cache County seeks public input on future transportation projects

The Cache Metropolitan Planning Organization (CMPO) is looking for feedback from the public on long range transportation projects.

“We are looking at our regional transportation plan that pulls together a vision for the future,” according to Jeff Gilbert, CMPO transportation planner. “We are looking for interest and people to weigh in on what they see as solutions.”

Gilbert said the transportation plan outlines a number of potential projects through 2050, including the often congested Main Street corridor through Logan.

“These projects take a long time to mature, plan, and get the funding lined up,” said Gilbert. “If we don’t start working towards it and preserving our options now, we’ll be in a world of hurt later.”

The plan will also look down the road at how technology, such as autonomous vehicles, will figure into future transportation needs.

“Everyone has an opinion,” said Gilbert. “We are interested in gathering those up and seeing what it presents for us.”

The comment period will wrap up May 19th, 2019. For more information, visit www.CacheMPO.org.

There are several stretches of road from Newton to Logan along Sam Fellow Road to the Airport Road that are quite bumpy and should be repaired. I no longer drive that route.

No comments are allowed on the CMPO page. Perhaps you can get an email to contact our city officials directly.

A project that is not set but that would be wonderful would be to simply paint / or replace the lines on the road with REFLECTIVE PAINT that is not easily removed with plows. There are many states (and other counties) that use this so that during the snowy months it is easier to maintain placement in your own lane.

Just a suggestion for all roads in Cache Valley.
