December 11, 1928April 15, 2019

Carol Margaret Ipsen Eliason, 90, passed away on April 15, 2019, in her home in Holbrook, Idaho, under the watchful care of her family.

Carol was born in Pleasantview, Idaho, December 11, 1928, the third of six children born to Ruel and Ada Ipsen. She was raised in a home filled with music. Carol made music a big part of her life and also in the lives of her family. She made sure that all of their children were involved in music from their early years.

She attended and graduated from Malad High School. While attending high school she met her sweetheart and eternal companion, Don Eliason. They were married February 2, 1949, in the Logan LDS Temple. This past February Don and Carol, along with their family, celebrated their 70th anniversary. After their marriage they made their home in Holbrook, Idaho, on the family cattle ranch where they raised five children and taught them to work hard and serve others.

Carol was a strong, faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many church callings where she blessed the lives of many people. She enjoyed being involved in community functions. Preserving memories and histories was important to her. She detailed daily life in her journals, which she kept consistently for years. Carol wrote and co-wrote several history books of the area and her family. Carol and Don loved serving their mission to Nauvoo, Illinois in 2000-2001 and also at the LDS Conference Center in Salt Lake from 2004-2011. The greatest service she gave was to her family. Their five children, Donette, Judy, Debbie, Ken, and Ron, received her unwavering support in all their activities and adventures.

Her love of music led her to help start the Malad Community Chorus and she enjoyed singing in it for many years. She sang in a quartet with Don, Wells and Marsha Willie at many community events.

Carol and Don’s life was full of many trips and adventures together, and the time spent with family held a special place in her heart, especially the annual Eliason campouts.

She will always be remembered for her sweet smile, a life that emulated service and compassion, her determined “make do or do without” motto, and her love of the gospel of Jesus Christ and her eternal family. Carol loved and was an example of all things virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy. Her children, their spouses, and grandchildren were thoroughly enfolded in her love.

She is survived by her husband, Don; children, Judy (Val) Bush, Debbie (Jay) Munns, Ken (Kristy) Eliason and Ron (Shellie) Eliason; son-in-law Merlyn Ringel; her sister Florence Bowman; 18 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Donette Ringel; grandson Shawn Ringel; sister Leora Brown and Iris Blaisdell; and brothers Grant Ipsen and Foster Ipsen.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kasey Ward, Brittny Hubbard, Mindi Allen, and Ginny Christensen and the staff and physicians at the Oneida County Hospital and Clinic for the tender loving care they gave to Carol.

Friends and family will be received at a viewing Sunday, April 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Monday, April 22, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Malad Stake Center. Funeral services will be Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the Malad Stake Center, 1250 N. 1100 West. Interment will be at the Holbrook Cemetery.
