January 17, 1935 – April 7, 2019
He has always enjoyed being outdoors, fishing at the Old Man’s fishing hole in Soda Springs, Idaho. He enjoyed hunting elk and deer and camping. He loved taking his grandkids to the mountains to cut firewood and to go hunting with him. He taught them the value of hard work by including them in working on the farm feeding the cows , milking and burning ditches. He loved to take drives in the mountains up Blacksmith Fork Canyon, Scare Canyon, Hyrum Dry and especially to Paradise.
He was very service oriented, always plowing off the neighbors driveways of snow before doing his own. He was always helping his neighbors and the neighboring farmers. He thought of others before himself.
He was a carpenter by trade, a member of the Carpenters Union. He worked on commercial projects, schools, and bridges and many homes. He built his own home with his father. He was also a small dairy farmer.
He is survived by his wife Sherrill, three daughters, Gayle (Darrell) Duncan, Denise (Bruce) Grow, and Paula Olsen, seven grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and by his sister Faye (Fred) Wright and family. He is also survived by the Nava family whom he lovingly accepted as his own. He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren and by a son-in-law.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 13 at 12 p.m. at the Hyrum Stake Center at 200 East 600 South in Hyrum, Utah. There will be a viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 12 at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 East Center St in Logan, Utah and Saturday 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Stake Center prior to the services. His last wish would be to put a smile on your face and wave to everyone.
