Leslie Allen Balls

December 24, 1942 – December 29, 2018
Leslie Allen Balls – came into this world on Christmas Eve despite his mother’s insistence she was not going to the hospital. The doctor declared a new “little soldier” had just been born to Clin and Ellen Peterson Balls. He passed away in Twin Falls, Idaho December 29, 2018 after a short, but brutal battle with cancer.
Les has always been a kind, fun-loving, warm individual, who once introduced to someone, became their instant friend. Many lives have been touched by his warm personality and infectious smile. He loved life and sharing endless stories of growing up in Hyde Park. He attended Cache County Schools and Utah State University. He served an LDS Mission to the Northwestern States.
After meeting the new girl in town, he worked diligently to win over her heart. Being successful, he married Laura McArthur on June 17, 1965 in the Logan LDS Temple. He served a mission again with his sweetheart at the Heber Valley LDS Girls Camp for three years. He was a true outdoorsman and could be found in his favorite chair enjoying God’s creations. He enjoyed his many friends and co-workers at Thiokol Logan Division, Ipaco and ATK Thiokol. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Mark. He is survived by his mother, Ellen; Sister, Ilarene Jones; and Brother, Al. He is also survived by his wife, Laura and children Craig (Stephanie), Mary Ann Hansen, Brian (Jennifer), Michael (Natalie), Carla (Andy) Bedingfield, Alyson (Boyd) Egan, Cameron, and Kevin (Ann); 22 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren who affectionately call him “Grandpa Weirdo”.
