It’s the Weekend: Dec. 6-9, 2018

It’s cold outside but there are plenty of fun activities to warm your heart this weekend. From great music to great causes, from Gingerbread homes to hockey, we’ve got all the details here.

Christmas Fantasy

A longstanding tradition continues this weekend with Christmas Fantasy at Mountain Crest High School this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. This musical adventure for the whole family features the combined talents of the choir, orchestra, band, guitar and drama department.

Christmas at Daines Concert Hall

The amazingly-talented Lexi Walker joins the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra for Christmas at Daines Concert Hall this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It should be an amazing performance and includes the Westminster Bell Choir.

Santa’s North Pole Extravaganza

Ever wonder how Santa keeps his sleigh tuned up, reindeer ready and presents prepared? You can check it all out at Bridgerland Technical College Friday from 4-8 with Santa’s North Pole Extravaganza. Santa will be there, so will the reindeer, along with treats and activities for the whole family. And, it’s free.

Live Nativity at Morgan Farm

Camels, donkeys, goats, sheep and chickens are at the Morgan Farm in Nibley for the Live Nativity. This annual event continues this weekend and on Monday next week.

Aggie Sports

There are a couple of Aggie athletic events happening Friday you might want to check out. In the Spectrum, the USU Gymnastics team hosts their Blue vs White intrasquad meet. And at the Eccles Ice Arena, it’s a rivalry game: USU Hockey hosts BYU. Both events begin at 7 p.m.

Gallery Walk and Parade of Gingerbread Homes

Discover incredible Cache Valley artists at the Downtown Gallery Walk on Friday. It’s a great place to find unique, one-of-a-kind gifts and a free date night. While you’re there, check out the Downtown Parade of Gingerbread Homes. These candied creations are displayed in store windows throughout Historic Downtown Logan.

Alternative Gift Market

Support projects around the world and relieve poverty and suffering at the Cache Valley Community Alternative Gift Market. It takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bruner Hall next to the First Presbyterian Church at 200 West Center Street in Logan.

Elk Festival

Winter is back and so is the annual Elk Festival at Hardware Ranch. The event is Saturday at 10 a.m. and features lots of free activities, but it does cost a little for a sleigh ride out to see the elk.

David Archuleta

After a quick sellout two years ago, David Archuleta returns to perform at Logan High Saturday night with his Winter in the Air Christmas Tour. Doors open at 6:30, show starts at 7:30.

Furever Home Holiday Brunch

Don’t leave out our furry friends this holiday season. Cache Humane Society presents Furever Home Holiday Brunch on Sunday. It begins at 11 a.m. at the Logan Golf and Country Club, features live and silent auctions, live entertainment, great food and is a great way to save the lives of homeless pets in Cache Valley.

Food Pantry Benefit Concert

Bring a non-perishable food item to benefit our friends in the community and enjoy an evening of music in the Logan Tabernacle Sunday evening. The Food Pantry Benefit Concert begins at 7 p.m.

Institute Choir Concert

You have multiple chances to enjoy the Logan Institute Combined Choirs as they present their Christmas musical performance: Oh Come, Let Us Adore Him! Performances are Sunday at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Logan Institute Cultural Hall on campus.
