Logan man pleads guilty to voyeurism

LOGAN — A 42-year-old Logan man has pleaded guilty to taking pornographic photos of a teenage girl. Benjamin V. Ogilvie accepted a plea deal that could send him to jail.

Ogilvie appeared in 1st District Court Monday afternoon for a preliminary hearing. He waived his right to the hearing and pleaded guilty to one count of voyeurism, a class A misdemeanor. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dropped six remain charges against him.

State attorney Jacob Gordon said Ogilvie took photos of a minor female, while she was wearing nightwear. The pictures were focused on the victim’s genitals. It took place between July 2017 and July 2018.

Defense attorney David Perry said prosecutors also agreed to only require Ogilvie to register as a sex offender for five years if he does not have any other arrests.

Judge Thomas Willmore scheduled sentencing for January 14. In the meantime, he ordered Ogilvie to complete a pre-sentence report about his criminal history.

Ogilvie is currently out of jail after posting $10,000 bail. He could face up to one-year in jail.
