Logan man given additional prison sentence for raping teen girl at Benson Marina

LOGAN — A Logan man will spend at least another five-years in prison for raping a teenage girl at the Benson Marina in March.

Oswaldo A. Vidrio was sentenced in 1st District Court. He previously pleaded guilty distributing a controlled substance, a second-degree felony, and unlawful sexual conduct with a teenager, a third-degree felony.

Vidrio was arrested March 28, accused of taking a 16-year-old girl to Benson Marina on March 21. While there, he raped and then tried to strangle her. He allegedly had a gun with him at the time.

Deputies later found a condom near where the assault took place. It matched several that Vidrio had in his possession when he was arrested. He also reportedly had brass knuckles, shotgun shells and a meth pipe.

During Monday’s sentencing, prosecutor Jacob Gordon told the court how Vidrio took advantage of the teenage girl after giving her drugs. He said the defendant has been given multiple chances to change his life but has refused.

Vidrio told the court he wanted to apologize for all his wrongdoings. He explained that he had tried to do a lot of good.

Judge Kevin Allen sentenced Vidrio to five-to-15-years in prison. The sentence will run consecutively with his current sentence for burglary.

Court records show, Vidrio along with three other men were arrested in 2008, following a string of burglaries in Smithfield. The four were later charged with breaking into at least 40 homes and a dozen vehicles.

Illegal immigration hit homefor everybody doesn’t it, he’d already been in trouble to and they allowed him to get released so he could drug and rape a teenager. What’s wrong with the justice system? Y’all better start wrapping your heads around the issue

This is a terrible thing but don’t make this an illegal immigration issue. No where in this article does it mention he is in this country illegally. Crossing the border from Mexico is not a gateway crime to what this guy did. Bad people come from everywhere, even Cache Valley. There is no way we can “start wrapping your heads around the issue” if we blame illegal immigration for every atrocity that happens.
