It’s the Weekend – August 16-19, 2018

Fair fun continues this week, this time in Franklin County. You can also run the runway, enjoy USU and high school football, hear great music in the mountains and much more this weekend.

COUNTY FAIR

The Franklin County Fair is this weekend and they’ve got some fun things planned in Preston. Check out all the displays Thursday through Saturday. Entertainment is in the arena, with a Hypnotist Thursday night, Friday night the Freestyle Moto Insanity tour visits the fairgrounds, plus locals can enter their own side-by-side, ATV, Jeep, truck, van…whatever in the UTV and Tough Truck races. The Bull Bonanza is Saturday night, and there will be lots of local entertainment going on each day at the fairgrounds.

MUSIC IN THE MOUNTAINS

Up and coming country artist Josh Turner performs this Thursday night at Cherry Peak Ski Resort. He’s had four #1 singles and the concert begins at 7 p.m. General Admission tickets are still available, and remember to car pool if you can because parking is limited.

And if that’s enough music in the mountains for you, the Beaver Mountain Music Festival kicks off Friday afternoon and continues all day Saturday. It will include 31 artists, including 13 nationally-touring acts. You can also enjoy the mountain bike trails, mini-half pipe and skate competitions, plus a Children’s Village for the kids.

FOOTBALL

Friday night lights return with the start of high school football! Sky View, Ridgeline and Mountain Crest all begin their seasons with home games this Friday night at 7.

Speaking of football, you can also check out the Utah State University football team this Saturday at their one and only fall scrimmage and family fun fest. Fun festivities begin at 1 and the scrimmage starts at 2 p.m. on Merlin Olsen Field. And new this year is a post-scrimmage concert with local band Mile Marker 6.

RUN THE RUNWAY

You’ve been cleared for take off and you can Run the Runway this Saturday. The 5K race is sponsored by the USU Flight Team and gives you the unique opportunity of running down one of the runways at the Logan-Cache Airport. The 5K starts at 8, and the family fun mile starts at 9.

SOCCER

The first home match of the season for USU soccer is this Sunday. The Aggie host Big Ten opponent Minnesota at 1 p.m. on the Chuck and Gloria Bell Soccer Field. The game is free, and the first 50 to attend get free gear.
