Origins of Peter Pan performed at Lyric Repertory’s second production of the summer

Peter and the Starcatcher is the second of four plays showing in repertory this summer at the Caine Lyric Theatre in downtown Logan and its opening is Friday night, June 22nd.

Lyric Repertory Company co-artistic director Dennis Hassan said it is adapted for the stage from a very popular young-adult fiction book.

“A Big hit on Broadway, and a lot of fun,” said Hassan when describing it. “It just screams Lyric Theatre, one of those really great plays that the audience can really get into with the performers on stage.

“This is the story of Peter Pan, before he’s Peter. And Captain Hook, before he’s Captain Hook. We see how the fantasy world was created; star stuff.”

Starcatcher begins its run Friday and Saturday, June 22-23, then runs in repertory through the rest of the Lyric season.

Opening dates for the season’s other two productions are Thursday, June 28 for Grey Gardens and Thursday-Saturday, July 5-7 for Macbeth. The fourth production, Sense and Sensibility, opened last weekend.
