Utah State University’s Center for Person’s With Disabilities has appointed longtime staff member Sachin Pavithran as its policy director.
”My role would be to make sure there is enough information being shared with decision makers, lawmakers and information based on data and research,” says Pavithran, “so that we have evidence-based data being shared so the appropriate decisions can be made and people with disabilities are not left behind.”
He describes the work being done at the CPD.
”Making sure that people with disabilities, including myself, have a seat at the table when discussions are happening that impact people with disabilities,” he explains. “A lot of times, in the past, decisions were made for people with disabilities, without the presence of the individual who is being impacted.”
He will assume his new job July 1 and also will continue as director of the Utah Assistive Technology program at the CPD.
