Plea deal coming for Logan woman suspected of stealing from homes and employer

LOGAN — A 30-year-old Logan woman, accused of stealing from her employer and burglarizing several homes, is expected to plead guilty as she tries to pay back the victims.

Karli J. Estrada appeared in 1st District Court Tuesday morning.  She is charged with six counts of burglary and four counts of various thefts, all second-degree felonies, and a charge of misdemeanor theft.

Defense attorney Greg Skordas told the court they had worked out a plea agreement with prosecutors, contingent upon Estrada paying restitution.  He asked the court for a change of plea hearing, when the defendant is expected to plead guilty.

Judge Brian Cannell scheduled the hearing for August.

Police began investigating after Estrada’s employer caught her taking some gift cards, intended to be reward incentives for employee performance.  Officers later uncovered evidence that she was allegedly taking valuables from homes that she was cleaning.  The jewelry and other items were allegedly pawned.  The crimes are believed to have occurred from March to August 2017.

Estrada is currently out of jail after posting $5,000 bail.
