Utah State University President Noelle Cockett announced at recent graduation ceremonies at USU-Brigham City that Dr. Dan Black is the new executive director at USU-BC.
Dr. Black said he is in the education business.
“I think in reality what happens is, it changes a person,” Dr. Black said. “And I think the internal value of obtaining an education is so much more powerful than just the economic side.
“So when you’re in the education industry what you think you’re doing is providing opportunities for people to grow and progress and just have a better life experience.”
He said a significant component of education at regional campuses is internet video conferencing classes, or distance education.
“You really find that, yeah, this distance thing can work and people can have a similar experience and can reach the educational objectives even if they’re far away.”
Dr. Black begins his new assignment June 1.
