A lot is going on in Smithfield this week as the annual Health Days celebration is observed. Smithfield City Recreation Director Richard Varela is in charge and he says the events got underway on Monday with the Stratford Loose Young Musicians Cup at Sky View High School.
There was also a family bike ride Tuesday night. On Friday, the Smithfield Youth Theatre presents: Cindy Goes to the Sock Hop at the Sky View High School auditorium. Saturday is a full day of activities and Varela says it is a celebration of Smithfield, but people come from other places both in and out of Cache Valley.
“Some people, that are outside of Smithfield, will either come for the race on Saturday, the 10K, 5K and 1 mile,” says Varela. “So we get people from all over the state that come for that.
“We get a lot of people who come out to our carnival where we have all the booths, we do Bubble Ball soccer, Gaga ball, we do an outdoor Zumba class and Spike Ball, just a bunch of fun activities and rides. We get a lot of people who come out for that as well.”
Varela says the big day is Saturday with activities going on all day. the Health Days Parade begins Saturday at 10 a.m. and events continue until dusk with fireworks at Forrester Acres Park, 100 North 400 West in Smithfield.
