Hyrum man sentenced to jail for groping teenage co-worker

LOGAN — A 28-year-old former Hyrum man has been sentenced to jail for groping a teenage co-worker. Travis L. Fisher was ordered to serve 45-days in jail and not have any contact with minors, except for relatives.

Fisher appeared in 1st District Court Monday morning. He previously pleaded guilty in January to one count of unlawful genital sexual conduct with a minor, a class A misdemeanor.

State attorney Spencer Walsh said Fisher was working with the victim at a Logan department store when the assault took place, in December 2017.

Defense attorney Mike McGinnis told the court, Fisher’s actions were out of character. He noted, his client had no significant criminal history prior to being arrested.

Fisher apologized, saying he was sorry for what happened.

Walsh explained to the court that he had spoken to the victim. She wanted the defendant to know that she forgives him for what he did, but wants him to get help.
