Tour of Utah set for southernmost start in race history

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The 2018 Tour of Utah pro cycling race will start in St. George and end in Park City.

KSL-TV reports that the race’s managing director John Kimball says the St. George start is the tour’s southernmost beginning point in its 14-year history.

Race coordinators Larry H. Miller Sports and Entertainment said Wednesday that the race will begin Aug. 6 and is scheduled to end Aug. 12.

The Tour of Utah has already received early commitments from three of the top 10-rated WorldTour teams in the world, highlighted by third-ranked BMC Racing.

American squads Trek-Segafredo, ranked No. 5 internationally, and 10th-ranked EF Education First-Drapac will also compete, as well as seventh-ranked Mitchelton-Scott of Australia.
