It’s the Weekend – 12/14/17

There are definitely some great ways to get in the Christmas spirit this weekend in Cache Valley.

The annual <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/calendar/entertainment/event_101d77d6-d52a-11e7-bd00-5cb9017b8d1c.html” target=”_blank”>Christmas sing-along</a> presented by the Cache Valley South Adult Special Needs Mutual group is Thursday. It begins at 7 p.m. at the LDS church located at 94 West 600 South in Logan.

Free holiday concerts continue each evening <a href=”http://logantabernacle.blogspot.com/” target=”_blank”>in the Logan Tabernacle</a>. The Towne Singers perform Thursday, Westminster Bell Choir performs Friday, and Saturday it’s a Tuba Christmas. Each concert begins at 7 p.m.

You’ve got another opportunity to see a live nativity this weekend. <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/calendar/event_a8c868ec-d714-11e7-bd4b-5cb9017befd0.html” target=”_blank”>“For Unto Us a Child is Born”</a> is a live nativity and open house at the River Heights LDS meetinghouse located at 800 South 600 East. From angel choirs to an outdoor stable, the open house runs from 6-9 p.m. Friday.

<a href=”https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?actions=4&amp;p=1″ target=”_blank”>Voice Male</a> returns to Logan for their annual Christmas show at the Ellen Eccles Theatre. They sing, they joke, they spread Christmas cheer for the whole family, but they don’t dance. The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Friday.

The Imperial Glee Club performs their 102nd annual Christmas Concert <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/calendar/event_21982b38-dbdc-11e7-b09f-2fc16fc2b74d.html” target=”_blank”>“Simple Holiday Joys”</a>. Their concert will feature special musical guests and is 7:30 p.m. Friday night at the Caine Performance Hall at USU.

In the mood for a big band Christmas? Utah Festival presents <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/calendar/event_5a235e3c-d344-11e7-9a0b-67c55cddad38.html” target=”_blank”>“Home for the Holidays”</a>, a big-band variety show at the Utah Theatre. Performances are Friday, Saturday and next Monday at 7:30 p.m. Enjoy a singalong to Christmas favorites, a Laurel &amp; Hardy silent film accompanied on the Mighty Wurlitzer Organ, a big band orchestra and singers, ballroom dancers, and even a little indoor show.

The <a href=”https://app.arts-people.com/index.php?actions=7&amp;p=3″ target=”_blank”>Bar-J Wranglers</a> visit the Ellen Eccles Theatre twice on Saturday. The wranglers from Jackson Hole perform their western music and stand-up comedy at 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.

The <a href=”https://www.facebook.com/events/1559494334096752/” target=”_blank”>Candle of Light silent auction</a> is at the Logan Library Saturday. Find that extra gift you were looking for while helping families in need in Honduras. All proceeds go to Candle of Light-Vela de Luz for humanitarian efforts. The auction begins at 11 a.m. in the Bonneville Room.

Saturday will be the 58fth year of the annual <a href=”http://bridgerlandaudubon.org/our-projects/cache-valley-christmas-bird-count/” target=”_blank”>Christmas Bird Count</a> for Logan. First begun in 1955, the Logan Christmas Bird Count is Bridgerland Audubon Society’s contribution to the world’s largest, oldest citizen science project on Earth.

The <a href=”http://www.logandowntown.org/parade-of-gingerbread-homes.html” target=”_blank”>Parade of Gingerbread Homes</a> continues through Historic Downtown Logan. Ten local businesses proudly display their creative works in shop windows. Make sure you vote for your favorites.

Both the Utah State men’s and women’s basketball teams have games in the Spectrum this weekend. The <a href=”http://www.utahsvfx.com/community-calendar/#/event/6687209-utah-state-womens-basketball-vs-denver?location=84321-logan&amp;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>women face Denver</a> at 2 p.m., while <a href=”http://www.utahsvfx.com/community-calendar/#/event/6718005-utah-state-mens-basketball-vs-life-pacific?location=84321-logan&amp;sections=all&amp;date=today” target=”_blank”>the men</a> play Life Pacific at 7 p.m.

The Logan Tabernacle Concert Series presents <a href=”http://www.cachevalleydaily.com/calendar/event_6ab6accc-dbdc-11e7-9cfe-779021a9d6b9.html” target=”_blank”>Handel’s Messiah</a> this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. These “tidings of comfort and joy” feature the Westminster Bell Choir and other special musical guests. It’s a free concert, but get there early to make sure you get a seat.

Next Monday, a <a href=”https://www.eventbrite.com/e/a-nashville-tribute-band-christmas-logan-ut-december-18-2017-tickets-39299803771″ target=”_blank”>Nashville Tribute Band Christmas</a> is at Ridgeline High School. Enjoy their classic Christmas songs as well as several moving originals. The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Monday evening.
