This time of year many get together with family, spending time with loved ones who they may not see at other times of the year. But for some residents at Sunshine Terrace in Logan this can be a very lonely time. On KVNU’s For the People program on Tuesday, Katie Stauffer said you can brighten a facility resident’s life through their Adopt a Grandparent program.
“It’s a super-fun program and it doesn’t just happen through the Christmas season, but it’s something that if you’re looking to serve, you can do all year-round. We allow community members to mingle on a regular basis with our residents and provide companionship with them.
“If you’re interested, we just have you come in and we get to know you a little bit and from there we assign you to a resident who we just ask that you visit two hours a month. Believe it or not, this two hours makes a huge impact on our residents,” said Stauffer.
She said some of the residents at the Terrace don’t have a lot of social support or family outside the facility and it gives them a friend and someone they can count on seeing them every month. For more information, give Katie a call at 435-754-0239 or go to sunshineterrace.net
