LOGAN – A Trails and Active Transportation Plan could be in Cache County’s near future. Cache Trails Coordinator Dayton Crites told the County Council Tuesday that several local groups who enjoy trails have been putting different types of plans together. He suggested that about 81 percent of the information they have gathered could be used for the master plan.
“What this document does is it allows Cache County as a municipal organization to approach private, public, federal and state grant opportunities that if we do not have a plan adopted we cannot approach those grants, we cannot fund the trails,” he said. “What the grants allow us to do is to take three of our taxpayer dollars here in Cache County and turn that into something with state and federal dollars that we now have 30 to use.”
Crites said that as the plan moves forward there will be reminders of opportunities to take a few bike rides down a street or to walk through the mountains during a beautiful sunset.
