A 44-year-old Nibley died early Thursday morning after the truck he was driving rolled along Valley View Highway. The accident occurred around 12:40 a.m. near milepost 103 on SR-30.

Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Lee Perry said Kent M. Batty was driving a gold Ford pickup truck eastbound, when he drifted off the roadway, over corrected and rolled. The truck came to a rest on the passenger side.

Batty was not wearing a seat belt and remained inside the truck, where he was located on the passenger floor area. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Perry said, based on the way the truck drifted off the road and suddenly swerved back onto the highway, investigators believe Batty was suffering from fatigue at the time of the crash. There was no immediate signs of impairment or distracted driving at the scene.

There was no one else in the truck and no other vehicles involved.
