Emergency crews called to rescue injured hiker near the Wind Caves

LOGAN — Paramedics and members of the Cache County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue team were called to help an injured hiker Thursday morning, near the Wind Caves, in Logan Canyon.

The 50-year-old man was hiking to the caves when he reportedly stumbled off the trail and rolled his ankle. He was approximately one mile from the trailhead and could not hike back down.

Another hiker was able to contact 911 and lead rescuers to the man’s location.

According to Sheriff’s Lt. Brian Locke, the man suffered a broken ankle. He was transported down the mountain to receive medical care.
